The Opportunity

I’m back!  My eye is healed and I’m fully recovered.

Returning to the matter of nutrition, all of the benefits I mentioned in my May 15th blog, “About Your Body”, have continued and I look and feel better than I have in many years.

Giving up meat and dairy and adopting a plant-based diet was never as difficult as I would have imagined if you had asked me before I started.

I still miss going out to a fine restaurant and enjoying a sophisticated dining experience. The good news is that many restaurants are beginning to realize that more and more people are adopting a plant-based diet. They are developing meat- and dairy-free recipes that are commensurate with their reputation for fine dining.

And yes, I still miss tasty junk food, but even before I began this new way of eating, I knew perfectly well that I never should have been eating that stuff in the first place.

Now, when I’m longing for something crunchy, I eat dry roasted nuts or a stalk or two of celery spread with crunchy peanut butter.  When I want something sweet, I put strawberries, blueberries and raspberries in the blender and make a smoothie. Very satisfying.

I can’t begin to try and quote all of the many books and articles available on the subject of the plant-based diet, but I’m going to pass on the recommendation of a doctor friend of mine.

He assures me that the website FoodRevolution.org. is an authoritative resource where you can find information, articles and book reviews on the benefits of plant-based nutrition. It’s well worth the visit—and you can do an easy search for any subject you’re interested in.

Now I have to talk to you about something really hard. Earlier this month I had a meeting with an old and trusted friend I have worked with in the past. He invited me to join him in a business venture that he knew would interest me.

I’ve taken a couple of weeks to think about the possibilities and to research the proposal. I’ve decided to accept. Start-ups always require a lot of hard work and long hours and that brings me to the hard part.

The Fashion and Fantasy Closet sections of this website only take a few hours each week, but this blog, between writing and research, takes up about 20% of my 60 hour work week.

So, it is with a truly heavy heart that I have to tell you that I will be suspending my blog for the next several months. I plan to expand the Fashion and Fantasy sections as soon as I can get ahold of my elusive web designer and hope that you will continue to check in.

Please wish me luck in this new undertaking. Thank you for your interest in my ideas. I’ll be back as soon as I can.
